Campania Stories: The first actual Italian wine event since the Covid-19 crisis

The Amalfi coast has picture-postcard scenery but the inland areas are also well worth a visit

Campania Stories: The first actual Italian wine event since the Covid-19 crisis

Campania aims to be the first Italian wine region to host an actual wine promotion event for the national and international specialist media since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. From 1 to 4 September, the Cilento area will roll out ‘Campania Stories 2020’ to allow Italian, European and overseas journalists to discover the latest vintages of the region’s wines but also to explore the area through tours and focused initiatives.

Some 80 companies will be showcasing their wines to journalists who have been brought over especially for the event. The programme includes technical tastings of the wines and tours of wineries along with an exclusive glimpse of the region’s artistic, historical and natural heritage, some of which is listed by Unesco. The final day, Friday September 4, will be dedicated to trade members from across Italy, the Campania Stories Day, where wines from participating companies will be on display. Attendees will be given access to important updates on production and supply chain data, along with an evaluation of red and white wine vintages over the past 20 years. For each vintage, scores will be assigned on a 20-point scale based on average quality and the potential for ageing, and information will be provided on the recommended drinking window for each vintage. The presentation of the latest vintage, 2019, will be hosted by the Campania section of the Association of Italian winemakers.

As a follow-up to the event, numerous activities will be rolled out throughout the year to promote the wines of Campania worldwide.
