Gilbert & Gaillard masterclass acclaimed at Vinitaly

François Gilbert once again attracted a host of wine enthusiasts, eager to learn more about Champagne, a legendary wine region worldwide but especially in Italy.

The room had been fully booked for a long time when the conference started on Tuesday, April 9. The chosen focus for the tasting was a comparison of Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs Champagnes. About sixty privileged attendees took part in a very exhaustive, two-hour presentation of the Champagne wine region followed by a tasting of 12 labels deemed to be highly representative of the region and grown across the geographical spectrum, in Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley, the Côte des Blancs and Aube (Côte des Bar).

Participants were able to see the differences in style and the diversity of the Champagne region by tasting remarkable Champagnes commented by François Gilbert: Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs; Paul Georg 1er Cru and Lady Vintage 2007; Ployez-Jacquemart Extra-Brut 2008; Drappier Brut Nature 100% Pinot; Collard-Picard Sélection Brut and Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru; Collet Blanc de Noirs 1er Cru; Jeeper Brut 1er Cru and Blanc de Blancs Grande Réserve; Maurice Vesselle Grand Cru Les Hauts Chemins 2007; and Jean Moutardier Brut Nature Pur Meunier.
